How to Erase and Factory Reset your Mac

Hello Apple Insider,
I love showing your videos to my classroom on the quality of video production your channel provides along with valuable information of technology. I teach STEM classes to 6th-8th grade ranging from Intro/advance robotics and Design & Modeling for engineering. Many of my assignments require business like created content such as, marketing, commercials, reviews, or tutorials. However, I base my rubric based on the quality of your show production and content.
Im hoping this extra piece of knowledge I make my kids do will give my kids an extra competitive edge in potential job markets as well as possibly create future YouTube creators.

I'm just trying to install the OS and nothing is working. Called Apple support and they can't even help.
Factory Reset(Failed)
Sign in through iCloud(Failed)
USB OS(Failed)
Download OS through Safari(Failed)
Cant take to Apple store cause it's too old
Tried multiple Apple IDs(Failed)
Tried Apple IDs that registered under that OS(Failed)
Try to sign in recovery mode(Failed)
Just wanted my money on a paper weight.

Yooo can someone please help me Ive just wiped the hard drive now the next thing to do is reinstall osx and it said to download and restore OS X , your computers eligibility will be verified with Apple so I click continue and it says an error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again" which I did with the same result What shall I do as i've organised to sell this tomorrow and this has happened Please help someoneeee

Hello i have one doubt , my mac is full so i want to reset it all new, i already did the backup on Timemachine to an HD extern , if i reset my Mac i will lost all my files even if i have them on HD extern ? My doubt is if my files are no longer on Mac because of the reset , when i insert the HD extern the files will not appear anymore on Mac and i will not be able to access them anymore...

I paused and rewound this video dozens of times, but finally worked for me with wiping my MacBook Pro. Thanks. I should have deleted Mojave first though and went back to Sierra bc it was super slow with Mojave, yet I like the dark night mode on Mojave. Well now I'm using a MacBook Air which is ten times lighter and it came with Sierra. Im going to stick with Sierra for awhile longer.

I have got to get rid of OS High Sierra and get back to OS Sierra . Sierra was the original OS, then I foolishly did the update to High Sierra. If I wipe my Mac-mini will that get me back to Sierra? If not, I have a Sierra OS disk coming from Amazon, will I be able to install it after wiping the mini? Thanks for any advice Great job on the video, fast, simple, and to the point.

You fucker This bricked my mac After quitting Disk Utility (from re-formatting macintosh HD) I got the error message: recovery not found (I think it needed the internet?). Now all I see is a gray screen and a mouse. Nothing OS = High Sierra, 3-month-old macbook pro. Now I get to stand in line at the not-so-nearest apple store. Damn you

Did what the video said and my MacBook now wont turn on Its got the the stage saying to reinstall macos and then came up with a notification saying Mac would need to verify. It said I could reset the computer so I did that and now the laptop wont turn on. It only shows a folder icon with a question mark Im so annoyed thanks

Backing up ur data isnt always necessarry because if you bought the mac second hand, you dont want to save the previous users data and retrive it because it dorsent belong to you. Or if you dont wanna keep ur data, you shouldnt back it up. Because what if there is something illegal or unwanted left from the previous user?

PLEASE HELP URGENT Please help me, My old mac book from 2010 is old and has a lot of files, I went to completely reset it, I erased the mac HD and tried to reinstall Mac os x and it had an error So I reseted it and now it starts with a blinking grey file with a ? on it PLEASE HELP Thankyou

CMD + R not working?? try this worked for my 2010 Mac
Restart your Mac manually and the trick is to press cmnd-r when you receive the power up tone (bonnnnnnnng). Worked for me first try. don't try to go to disk utility from finder. The eraser button will not be click-able.

Help Whenever I reinstall the macOS sierra, it always failed and an error message shows, it tells me that an error occured in installing macOs and tells me to proceed to the purchase section
Is it due to the internet connection? Help me, I have macbook pro 2010

A friend of mine wants to reset his MacBook Pro. When he hits the erase button, there is no option for macOS Extended (Journaled). There only are the following options: APFS, APFS (Encrypted), APFS (Case Sensitive) and APFS (Case Sensitive, Encrypted). Which one should he select?

So I have a question, if a mac was purchased with software like Final Cut Pro X preinstalled on it and I comes from Apple out of the box with it on it, does that go with the Mac when you sell it and how do you reset the Mac and have it on there if so?

I got a MacBook Pro from my friend for 200 decent condition few scratches the y key has came off but in decent condition nonetheless he stole it from his mum because she never used it and he wanted to make quick money from it lmao

I was able to erase everything but was not connected to internet and was unable to reinstall mac os. I shutdown. when I turned back on im seeing a file with a question mark. Can someone please let me know what I can do?

When I click disk utility all that pops up is Apple ssd smo128g media and container disk 2 under internal and under disk images I see apple disk image and OS x base system. Which one do I ease? I need help please

Do I have to be completely signed out of everything to be able to reset the Mac? Because mine keeps going back to the home screen and I still have to type my password and takes me back to where I started

i lost my electricity during the installation and now when i turn my mac on it shows the sing of a folder with the "?" in the middle of it did it happed to anyone and how did they solve it

Followed this and got to the stage where I erased the hard drive, then went to redownload or whatever and I didnt have enough storage do to so. Completely fucked my MacBook. Thanks.

Hello, i followed the all of the steps however it does not reinstall macOS sierra and the loading bar remains completely blank, it says 5 minutes remaining. What can i do?

at the command + R step it doenst seem to be working on my MacBook Pro (2012).
it mights a light ticking sound, is there something i should be doing differently?

I erased the hard drive reinstalled MacOS Sierra, and then recieved an error after installing. Now I'm reinstalling MacOS Sierra again to see what happens...

I know I have everything backed up and even used migration assistant to transfer everything to my new macbook, but it always feels scary to wipe a hard drive haha

Once I accidentally deleted everything... even the main software. Since my internet was slow I had to wait 14 hours for it to completely reinstall. Bad day.
